Hardwood lumber is sold in board feet (BDFT). This is effectively a volume measure with 1 BDFT being based on a 12" x 12" square of lumber 1" thick. For example a board 2" think and 12" x 12" would be 2.0 BDFT as would a 1" thick board that was 12" x 24".
We sell random width and length lumber. You can specify length and width ranges to meet your need. We list mostly 4/4 thickness lumber although we have other thicknesses in stock so let us know if you need something specific with the inquiry for. 4/4 lumber is a standard was to describe essentially 1" thick hardwood lumber. It is produced in a sawmill at over 1" in thickness. After drying the thickness is reduced. We remove the rough sawmill surface to provide a skip planed lumber at 15/16" thickness or for project packs ready to use at 13/16". Much of this type of lumber is finally finished at 3/4" thickness.
We supply a Prime grade Select and better product for most of our products. This will give a minimum 83% yield of clear lumber on every board. For project packs we take the lumber to a higher level of finish and you can expect clear lumber ready to use. We also supply rustic lumber and character lumber (such as Ambrosia maple, curly maple, cherry, white oak, spalted maple etc) for projects that need that special look
We can supply wide lumber and thin lumber upon request. Generally for shipment we have a maximum length of 7 ft. Shipping lumber over 7 ft in length requires different shipping arrangements that are usually uneconomic on orders under 100 BDFT. Let us know if you need something special and we will see what we can do.
